A woofing Dartanjang takes the cake

(…) The performance works best when the Royal Swedish Opera takes a break from itself and plays at presenting an interactive happening with the audience. Then Ketil Hugaas’ splendid Dartanjang emerges as the audience favourite, with his genuine lack of a fixed identity. Most particularly when he believes he is the conductor and growls, woofs, and coos, only to be frightened out of his wits by the Royal Opera Orchestra. And with some hesitation gives back the baton to the evening’s dauntless conductor, Tobias Ringborg.
