Extended Opera - Extended Practices in Opera and Vocal Performance

From 2011 to 2014, four courses for advanced singers were given at The University College of Opera.  

As a main part of the assignment as Visiting Professor, Carl Unander-Scharin led these courses, with the aim to offer: 

"A course that aims to a broadening and critical discussion of the concept of opera, by performing old and new music in a staged and technologically enhanced concert/ installation/ performance."

In the fall of 2011, the following students followed the Extended Opera Course #1 "Extending Opera Workshop"

Yinjia Gong (Tenor), Richard Laby (Baritone), Staffan Liljas (Bass), Maria Sanner (Alto) and Randi Røssakk (Soprano).

This course was shown in the Reactor Hall at KTH and also during a TeDEx event.

In the spring of 2012, the following students followed the Extended Opera Course #2 "Opera Mecatronica Live": 

Kristin Gornstein (Mezzo), Henrikka Gröndahl (Soprano), Anna-Sara Åberg (Alto), Signe Lind (Soprano) and Matilda Wahlund (Soprano). 

It was shown at the Stockholm Royal Opera, and inaugurated the Operadagen Rotterdam 2012. Swedish Television made a reportage, that can be seen here. Two other TV interviews can be found here and here

In the spring of 2013, the following students followed the Extended Opera Course #3: "I sing the Body Electric!": 

Maria Sanner (Alto), Staffan Liljas (Bass), Lisa Gustafsson (Soprano) and Alexandra Zetterström-Büchel (Soprano).

It was shown at the Reactor Hall, KTH; during Scenkonstbiennalen in Jönköping, and at the Cape Town Opera, South Africa.

In the fall of 2013 and endning in January 2014, the following students followed the Extended Opera Course #4: "Electric Body Songs": 

Emilia Feldt (Soprano), Erika Tordéus (Mezzosoprano), Annika Hudak (Alto) and Annastina Malm (Mezzo). It was shown in the Reactor Hall at KTH and at The Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, inaugurating the newly renovated building during the O/A- festival.
