“From out of an electronically staged sound landscape the picture’s distinctive figures are set free in a series of songs – all characterised by a use of melody which is as inventive as it is strongly theatrical. In earlier works like the radio opera Mannen på sluttningen [The Man on the Hillside] and the opera Tokfursten, Unander-Scharin has displayed an unusual instinct for extreme characters, united with a melodic temperament which is decidedly unlike the prevailing restrained and balanced Swedish idea. But here he goes quite a lot further in that he has chosen for each song a voice type which is not only colourful but also determines the style. Accordingly, the singers include Erik Saedén, M.A. Numminen, Marika Lagercrantz, Jörgen Lantz (Björne), the flamenco singer Rogelio de Badajoz Duran and the Eros Ramazotti-wailing Dalila da Silva Costa. It is in other words a varied song cycle held together by a resolute personality.”
